+ Facts about eagles.

  1. Eagles are different from other birds of prey in the following ways: they are larger, they have a heavier build and a heavier head and beak.
  2. Eagles are larger than all the other raptors except for Vultures.
  3. Eagles have large hooked beaks for tearing flesh and incredible eyesight for spotting prey.
  4. Eagle nests are called eyries and they build them in trees or cliffs.
  5. Eagles tend to lay two eggs. The larger of the two chicks (typically the female) kills the other.
  6. Most eagles live in Eurasia and Africa.
  7. Eagles can live up to thirty years in the wild.
  8. Eagles do not change nests, rather they re-use the same one.
  9. Female eagles are about 25% larger than male eagles.
  10. Bald eagles are not bald.
  11. Bald eagles only live in North America.
  12. Bald eagles are protected by Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act of 1940 which prohibits not only killing of the birds, but any kind of contact with them including even possessing a fallen feather.
